Ok guys I got out of work last night and my car wouldn't start. I got a ride home went back up there today tried it for a little bit and it started. Started it a few more times with little time in between. Anyways I know the starter is working. But the car isn't turning over. I think it may be something in the distributor or the distributor pickup. Any help is greatly appreciated. By the way the car has MSD ignition on it by a previous owner. If that affects anything. Please respond. Thanks.

If the MSD box was the culprit it should turn-over but wont start (no spark). Nevertheless, try disabling the MSD box and revert it back to stock if the wire harness is incorporated for easy access. Sure the battery is still good?

I HAD an MSD 6al box on my car, needless to say, while driving around I had the car die all of the sudden 3-4times, after the 2nd time I started to carry the stock coil around with me, so I plugged that in and bingo it works great!, so I said snip snip and took the damm thing off and haven't had a problem in 10k+ miles... Like you said, the msd could be a problem, or the pick up coil or the ignition module. Where you getting spark when it was doing it the night before?

 

I don't know how to check if it is getting spark. Also I didn't put the MSD on there so I don't have the original stuff at all. And I am flat broke so I can't buy a bunch of stuff for it. Someone told me it may be the fuel pump. Would it start up and run sometimes if it was the fuel pump? And how do I disable the MSD box. And thanks guys. I am taking it to a shop tomorrow to have them look at it.

I have the same problem. I have a 91 z28 350, with an alarm system. I'll go to start it and nothing will crank but i know the batteries fine becaus ei had it tested a couple weeks ago and my stereo still goes on. Well my car will usually start in a few minutes after the alarm has gone gone on again and i shut it off. I know I have a bad fuel pump, it's at 25 psi, but this problem has been with me a for about a year and a half, got my fuel pump tested about a month ago. Any suggetions if this has to deal with fuel pump, alarm, electrical....? oh yeah and can someone tell me a good fuel pump with a decent price. Thanls alot.

There was a TSB on a lot of fuel pumps in 91. I know there was one on my car with the 305 check and see if there was one on your 350. If the car hasn't had this checked out then you get a new one installed for free I think. A Technical Service Bulliton does mean it gets fixed for free by GM right guys?
