plug behind distributor
hey, just recently ive had my heads re done and have completed the big *** job of putting everything back together. but unfortunatly there is one plug that is on a short wire behind the distributor that i just cant figure out where it plugs into. it cant go very far and ive inspected just about everything and every socket has a plug.... can someone please help me with this? i got an 89 T/A GTA
It's probably the EGR solenoid hookup, but did you plug the two connectors into the distributor?

well, from what i can tell, every plug is in its proper place. there was a really hard to get one near the distributor under the rear part of the upper plenum. but i still cant figure out what that one behind the distributor goes to. after all my work the car still isnt running good. it chugs, smoke comes out of the exahst, and it will die if i dont keep my foot on the gas. i get a code 32 which means some EGR screw up. would this be the cause of haveing no pipes screwed on to the exhaust manifold's? basicaly the exahaust comes straight out of the engine. would my car be running so rough because of that? or could it be the timeing? its a possibility that i didnt have the distributor pointing in the right direction, but i couldnt help it cause it wouldnt slide back into the original slot.

The EGR sol. has a two wire female connector with posts inside, and green insulation.
Is that what this looks like?
There is also a sensor at the bottomside of the plenum that measures air temp. Is that not plugged in?
EGR doesn't matter. I couldn't see a difference with mine plugged/unplugged.
You SHOULD check your timing. I'm running super advanced, but if your running retarded you'll chug, smoke, backfire, etc.
Describe the connector better and we'll tell ya what it is.. I just finished building my 355 TPI motor in a 89 body so I'm very familiar with all the connectors now, and how close they can and can't be to the headers ;(
