changing fuel injectors

Not sure if this should be in tech forum ?

Has anyone changed/replaced fuel injectors on their TPI ? I have a '91 Formula with 2 injectors gone south (reading low resistance, 7-8 ohms) and have 8 new ones to install.

I know I can do all the mechanical re & re stuff but have no idea how to de-pressurize the system so I can remove the old injectors ????

Anyone have any ideas on how not to blow one's self up while replacing fuel injectors ?

thx, RP.

I changed my injectors about a week ago (not too much of PITA) but I had 2 injectors going bad also. All I did was
1. Undo the battery (just for safety)
2. Unscrewed the gascap (let some pressure escape)
3. Hooked my fuel pressure gauge to the schrader valve and bled the remaining fuel into an gas can
--there's a 3 ft attachment hose on the fuel pressure gauge with a button to push for bleeding (bought it at Autozone) 38 bucks or so.

I still had a little fuel left in the rails but it wasn't much at all. If you buy the fuel pressure gauge, it'll tell you step-by-step directions. If I can do it anyone can. Good luck.

palric,
start car, pull fuel pump fuse.. cars runs till
no more fuel in rails. then start the r&r
procedure for injector removal.
just di it saturday on the corvette. had 1
wasted injector and one severly clogged.
replaced with lucas 24#. plus i installed
an adjustable fuel pressure regulator (AFPR)
alone itll take you 4-6hrs. gather up all the
tools you need before starting. it sucks to
findout you need a $4 tool to finish and you
have no transportation.
good luck.

Ford SVO injectors are a great deal. But they are rated at a lower pressure, so if they say 19 lb., then they would be more in a GM car maybe 21 lbs.

Hey guys thanks for the info.

I had to laugh when I read the 'pull the fuse and run the fuel system dry' method. Why is it the simplest and cheapest method always evades me ?!?!?!
