No timing tab - Tuner Pro give base timing?
No timing tab - Tuner Pro give base timing?
The mechanic that installed the engine I built for my Jeep seems to have forgot that one might need a FREAKIN timing tab!
It's originally out of a 91 Z28, 350. Stock 730 ECM, no custom prom. I have a billet timing cover on it.
Ok... now that I have a new distributor stabbed and it will start but the timing is definitely off and I'm having a hard time dialing it in. I have Tuner Pro and can watch the knock count and now it may have fouled a plug... at least it feels like it's running on 7 cylinders.
So first, I've looked through TP but I'm either overlooking or confused. Can TP show base timing (6 deg), would I merely unplug the EST and then the ALDL will show only base timing or ????
Trying to time this thing without a timing tab.... any help is appreciated.

Re: No timing tab - Tuner Pro give base timing?
the only timing you'll see in TunerPro or any other scan program is what is programed into the chip.
you could set it by ear, but i don't recommend it.
you really need to get a timing tab on it to set the base timing right.
