Who can machine my plenum?
Are there any good places in the Woodbridge/Manasas area that could match my ports to a 58mm TB. About how much would it cost? Thanks.

You're insane if you pay someone to enlarge the throttle bores. You could open them up with a dremel in less time than it would take to get in your car and drop it off at the shop.

- Definitely prototypes, high powered mutants of some kind. Too weird to live, too cool to die

I agree, and if you dont have a dremmel, get one. they are very handy

I got a dremmel. What tip do you use and how do you get the aluminum to stop sticking to the bit?
If your Dremel is anything like the battery powered one I have it would probably take about 6 hours just to get rid of the casting bump right behind the throttle body.
What you need is a die grinder that plugs into an outlet. I tried all kinds of different bits and I know from experience that all the "stone" type bits are pretty much worthless on alum. Get a bit made for alum. Best one I have is cone shaped and has spiral edges around it. A neighbor that works with aluminum tanks gave it to me.

well when i ported my plenum i also used the bits like 91firebird is talking about...I have to agree they are the best.I went to sears and bought a couple different sizes, like a big and small cone shaped and a big and small cylinder shaped.I noticed the bits began to clog up with aluminum from the plenum fairly fast,so i took whatever i could find like a screw or nail, and i used the pointy end of it to pull out the aluminum stuck in the bit,and the aluminum comes right out of the bit too and the bits remained virtually undamaged. But heres a lil trick i used also,to help stop the bit from clogging.I had a little spray bottle filled with water and as i drilled i constantly was soaking and spraying the bit,and since it wasnt getting too hot the bit didnt clog up nearly as much as before i used the water trick.

If you choose not to do it yourself, http://www.lingenfelter.com sells them. They are VERY expensive though. You also need to provide your plenum as a core. I believe http://www.cruzinperformance.com does custom porting too. Those of you who used a Dremel have far more patience than me. Using an air powered die grinder it took me about 4 hours to get the TB openings enlarged.

a good lube is 80-90 gear oil. keep it wet
and the clogs dont happen as much. speed of
the tool prevents the chips to fly off and
clogs the bit. plus the bit can only do so
much and we lean on the tool to go faster
and CLOG. the only drawback is the smell..
burning gear oil isnt to sweet. but it does
keep the bit temperature down.
hope this helps
