timing and tuning issues?

timing and tuning issues?
i swaped out my lb9 for a 350 from a 84 vette.using all my tpi stuff, it runs like a beast. my problem is when i tryed to set the timing i cant see the timing mark? i even painted the line white while it was out of the car. and for some reason i cant set the idle, it wont stay running?
