My MASS Air with 85 TA air intake assembly?

Ok, i got a '87 GTA with the 5.7 TPI. there is a complete air intake assembly i am looking at for the "85-87" TPI. you know, the one no one ever knows about....they all think the dual intake is the only one? well, i need the over the radiator rectangular box since mine is leaking air everywhere. plus i need several clamps. i want to buy this setup...but i suppose i will need to use my MAF from my original setup? or can i use one from the '85 TA, that i am not sure was 5.0 TPI or 5.7 TPI? no big deal, just wondering if the '85 MAF that is already on there is compatible with my '87? i suppose the best ideal would be to use the entire '85 air intake with my '87 MAF. just making sure what would work best. i have been looking for the single intake assembly for months...i think i will throw up if i see one more dual intake setup. thanks.

Why not build your own intake. Check my website for ideas.

the T/A's never got a dual intake steup.(to the best of my knowledge) that was on the camaro's which won't work on the T/A due to the hood profiles. I don't believe an 85 MAF would work on the 86-89 computer, i could be wrong, so don't quote me.

Some 85's have the newer style MAF, but if theres nothing wrong with your current one you should just use it. Physically they are the same size.

Yeah, this setup sucks big time. i will look into your setup, maybe i will switch it out. I guess the camaro style is predominant on ebay, because for every one of the single inlet style there are literally 25 of the duals. but this set-up is a joke and i would love to do something else with it.
Thanks for all the comments.

I re-read your post to make sure we were on the same sheet of music. Definitely look at my custom Cold Aid Intake and how I incorporated the MAF sensor. My 87 TA breaths much better now and pulls a lot harder. I threw all the stock air box crap in the trash. Good Luck!

Heh-heh. i am already on the case! i got the ***** 3" air filter w/clamped opening from autozone with authentic japanese writing and all! lol! i was going to grab the 3" civic pipe extenstion, it looked like it may work with our setup(almost 90* angle and all).....but my mechanic owns an exhaust shop and said leave it to him and he will make me a 3" muffler pipe to fit right in. as well, he was going to lowes to look at similar stuff for his SCCA car, so he will pick up the elbow/etc there for me. my car was in for a front tire mounting and a short i couldn't locate (and neither can he) so i figured may as well tear off all that stock crap and try your setup while it was sitting there. i really don't care for "performance upgrades" on the GTA (i use it for work only),i got the LT1 WS6 and '79 pontiac 400 TA for that. but there were way to many vacuum leaks for my taste. so i will post on how the whole thing turns out, with some pics. Thanks a lot for the great idea! later.
