code 42 could mean your ignition module is going south. might want to take it off and have it checked. new ones are like 35-40 bucks if i remember right. however, when my tpi corvette threw a code 42, it wound up being a bad computer, but my car wouldnt hardly run when it threw the code. when the check engine light wasnt on it ran perfect, but the light came on 90% of the time after it was started.

I tried a new ignition module same story. I might go and have them tested just to make sure. I just put in a rebuilt computer not to long ago, I'll swap in the old one to see what happens. Thanks for the advice.

Bet it is the computer you put in. That was my thought after reading your first thread. Now that you said you put a rebuilt one in recently I would bet that is it.

man it is the spark timing circit. it is not the module. it is most likley a short in the wires jiggle them arround and see if the light goes off. if yes find the short and splice in a good wire. if it does not go off there is a problem in the distributor with the spark timing circit.
