Are there differences between TPI setup for a auto tranny and man. one

I've got an 89' Firebird with the 2.8ltr MPFI and 700R4 tranny. Pulling V6 and dropping in a 5.7ltr TPI and want to use a T-56. Will there need to be any changes to the enigne electronics or harnesses when going from an auto. tranny to a manual one? Exspecially a T-56? The TPI is from a 91' and I don't know if it was a auto or manual.

The chip is different, you would need to change it so that its setup for a manual not an auto. The timing curves are usually different as well. Might be time to start burning your own if you arent already.

My Guess would be you could safely run the Automatic chip in a manual. The Manual chip though has no control over the Torque Convertor for automatics.

Your best bet would still be to start burning, It is cheeper to get up and burning than to buy an aftermarket chip.

From what i understand you can run an automatic chip in a 5speed, byt the SES light will be on because of no TC

I'm running an auto chip with a 5 spd. No SES light..

Its not the _best_ chip in the world. It only advances to like 24' total timing, and madmax is right, you should start burning your own chips..

BUT, you will be fine for now. I am.
