Another 1987 IROC 5.7l MAF Question....
Hi guys,
First off I want to thank you all so much for helping me out with info all this week!!! Okay now for the problem. I just found out that the IROC 5.7l engine I was going to pull this weekend is missing its MAF unit (thanks again for all your help on that!) Now my questions are, should I buy the motor any way? Where would I get a MAF unit for an '87 5.7l? How much should I pay? Does anyone have one? How can I tell if I get the right MAF (is there a serial number for an '87 5.7l)?
Again, any info is muchly appreciated!!!
Thanks again,
Rod

New they are almost 300 but auto zone and advanced auto sell them for 180 reman dont know how much you are paying for the hole engine and harness but a tpi set up with every thing sells for around 500 with out the engine on line and then you end up having to change the mas any way half the time.
72,
You can get a brand new, warranted Wells SU-145 MAF for your engine for about $170.00 (US). They are a lot more reliable and durable than the OEM style hot-wire MAF, and flow better. They use the same thick-film sensing technology that the newer LT1 and LS1 engines use, whereas most aftermarkets and all remans used the hot wire sensor. I've got two years+ on mine without a problem.

YA, I need a new maf and they are 250-600 $CAN, so 170 yankee for the best MAF for TPI, is a steal.
can we order online, or should I make a road trip down state side to get one at an auto store???
