ESC and idle question...

I rebuilt the valvetrain on my 86 TPI and now with everything back in place the car idles at 500 (instead of 750) and itr REALLY rough. Throttle response insn't what it should be either. My friend told me on an 86 the ESC is like $800!!!! Anyone know better? Anyone know the part #? Does this sound like the ESC? I'm prety sure the MAF is fine. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Sounds more like you have set the rockers too tight to me. What makes you think it's the ESC?

86z28tpi,
you might want to readjust your valves again.
what did you set your timing at? recheck your
wires for proper firing order. 1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2
if your vavles are set right, timing is 6-10*
and your wires are right. look for that vacuum leak.
