TPI problems
Hello everyone. I just joined the site a few days ago and i've been searching to see if the problem i'm having was posted, and i couldn't find one so here it is. I've got a 87 IROC with the 5.7 TPI in it. Bought the car from a guy, put a fuel pump in it, drove it for about a week. Come outside after work the next day to burn off the dryrotted tires and it wouldn't run. Turns over fine, fuel pressure seems to be alright, and getting fire to all 8 plugs. I changed the fuel filter when I changed the pump and flushed the lines best I could. Any ideas?
Also, if anyone knows how to bypass the MAF, I would like to know please. Heard from a few people that could possibly be the problem so thought I could give it a try. Thanks.

Re: TPI problems
why would you wanna bypass the MAF? for troubleshooting purposes? do you even know if the pump is coming on? check you fuel pump relay on the fire wall by the master cylinder. first thing id do.

Re: TPI problems
when you turn the key to the ignition do you hear the pump come on?
check your fuel relay if you dont. also just double check your wiring connections maybe something got lose?
if the car starts then dies i'd unplug the maf and start the car if it stays on to put it in limp mode its most likley the maf or one its two relays
if you do find that the maf has an issue replace the relays first they are dirt cheap and you can easily rule tehm out from replacing them unless you want to go through the whole volt meter thing to test them
if problem still happens might be the maf itself and can either pay 200 with core charge for a rebuilt one or 400 for a brand new one

Re: TPI problems
Ok, I finally got it to pull codes...loose wire on the back of the OBD lol But it's pullin code 42, EST problems. And to answer the above questions, yes the pump is coming on when i turn the key on, and it's gettin plenty of fuel pressure to the fuel rail. But i called Advance and the guy there tells me the EST code is the knock sensor. Anyone else have any suggestions?
And the whole bypassin the MAF thing was checkin to see if that was my problem. Kinda don't have the 250 the get a refurbed one the test it.
