I got a ram air intake question...

I saw this IROC TPI 350 auto. It had the same intake, but had two K&N filters. Then the owner said that he put ram air on it, its located near where the licence plate would be. Like theres two ports located right next to the fog lights. Can't really see them.

My question, if this is a modified intake with ram air, then what does the stock one look like?? Where does the stock intake get its air from?? Doesn't the stock one get its air from the same area (around fog lights)?? If so, how is this ram air?

And is this considered a miniram or a super ram, or neither? What kind is it?

All opinions, facts, and help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A ram air setup can be done a couple of ways...in the tech articles on this site...there is a way...using ducting from the air filters down to where the fog lights are........the lower part of the air intake (the plastic piece the filters sit on) is cut to make room for the ducting....other ways include setups from SLP etc. that either get air from under the car...or from behind the headlights......from your very vague description it sounds like the first one with the ducting....but you would beable to recognize it by looking behind the foglights or after taking the filters off. As for the stock intake....the lower part of the air intake has little ports in it...this is where the air comes in from....and I believe it gets its air from under the car at the air dam (the black plastic peice that always scrapes) Im sure someone else can explain a bit better.

As for the miniram and super ram....those are completely different INTAKE MANIFOLDS and plenum/runners. The place it gets the air routed to it is the AIR INTAKE...the plastic peices. If the IROC doesnt have ram air...you can easily add it....just read the tech articles....but even if you do...you wont notice MUCH difference until you mod the engine even more.
