How can I test my injectors?
Well, im still running rich (11 mpg for my 86' 305 TPI IROC)
I was wondering now if it could be a problem with the injectors. I picked up a serial-aldl interfacing cable, and im trying to get that working to see if i can find anything there.
Could a broken/leaky/? injector(s) be causing this super rich condition? I have been flashed code 45 (o2 rich) twice, but after i have shorted the ALDL to read the code, it blanks it out right after i pull the code, so it shows just "12", which is system ok.
I have changed the o2, and got an expensive tuneup, including injector service. Is there a way to check my injectors to see if they might be the problem? Or does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

Uh, i could yank out the 305 and put in a 502 BB, and still flow more then enough fuel (hehe). I was just wondering if there was some way to test injectors out, without taking them off, and sending them to someplace like TPIS...

Have a scantest run on your computer if it show code 45 then erase it all by it self than the computer itself may be the problem they donot erase codes by themselves unless it has about 50 restarts without that same problem reacurring. Also could be ground problem to ecm (computer).Computer could be staying open loop (warm up mode).Old style tuneups sometimes willnot correct todays driveability problems.

Christos,
What do you mean by "injector service"?

Well, the"injector" service was the $80.00 gas-station special service. I talked to them about it, and they said they wouldn't pull the injectors, they just attatch a line to the fuel rail, and force a special "solivent" through it, and flush them out with that.
I havn't had any problems with my injectors before, and the only reason i did this was because the mechanic told me it was an important step in getting my car running right again. foolishly i believed him. Ive finally learned not to trust mechanics, heh.
I had the cat replaced, as well as a sparkplug change. new harmonic balancer installed, and a new y-pipe to replace the old one. (had a hole) Cap and rotor, spark-wires were replaced about a year ago.
Lets see, oh, and a new O2 sensor.
I also asked them to wire it so my coolent temperature sensor was working again, (fan has been wired to always be on sence ive had the car) they just installed a new CTS, and it still works the same. Wasn't sure if that could be causing some kind of buggy problem.
As for the ECU, it went bad a few years ago, and i couldn't even flash the ALDL, i had it replaced with another ECU from the same model/year car. I also read vaders small article on the replacement PROM, and upgraded mine, just to be sure that wasn't the problem.
So i flash a code "45" (o2 rich) about once a month, sometimes if i don't flash it right away, it goes away, so when i do i just code 12's.
Thanks, I know this is a pain of a problem, but im still paying off my frame-un-bending, and the "tune up" i mentioned above. totaled about 2,800 so far, about 100 bucks more then i paid for my baby.
Picked up an ALDL cable, and am trying to get my laptop and craig's software to interface with my car comptuer, so i can hopefully pinpoint the problem. havn't got it to run yet, but hopefully i can.
Thanks for any suggestions or comments, as always guys!

one way i have seen to test injectors is to
get the top connector of the injector from
a junk yard and strip the wires so you can
hook it up to a multimeter.
then unplug the top connector of your injector, and put the tester on.
its supposed to read a certain number of ohms
but i cant remember.

Umplug the injector, then use an Ohm meter to check across the connectors on each injector. They should read around 16.2ohms, if not that, than values should be close to one another (providing they all aren't bad). You may want to check after an hour city drive after it sits for about 20minutes. It will be hot as a SOB, but this is when injectors will show a bad reading. Good Luck
