Anyone degreed a cam with the stock timing chain on an L98?
Comp Cams is telling me that my stock L98 timing chain has advance ground into it, and that dot to dot isn't really a true zero degree install.
I find that a little odd, but it doesn't seem like it would be impossible. I don't have a degree wheel, so I don't have a way to verify one way or the other. Has anyone else ever tested a stock timing set?

that is interesting and thats the first time i've heard it. My timing chain was so worn and stretched that i couldnt and wouldnt reuse it. I got a 9 way adjustable one
much better
If it does have any advance ground in its probly only 2-4 degrees...but i highly doubt GM would do that. what comp is probly saying is factory tolerances allows several degrees off true zero to be used. SO a factory straight up degree mark may actually be anywhere from 3 degrees retarded to 3-4 degrees advanced. I would think tolerances were more along the lines of +- 2 degrees but you never know
Then again, i've read threads where aftermarket timing chains, even those by comp cams have been off a few degrees
