starts but doesnt stay when cold..
starts but doesnt stay when cold..
I have a 91 Z28 with the 5.7 V8. When i go to start the car it will turn on and then a second later die. if i hold down the throttle while starting i can get it to run and if i hold my foot there for a few seconds and let it warm up, the car will run fine. If the car is a little warm it will start up fine it just seems to be on cold starts. Not that i have to hold my foot on the gas for too long but i'm sure its something going out. I'm not sure whether its my fuel pump, fuel injectors possibly a clog in the fuel line somewhere. Is there a couple choices i could narrow this down to and then test from there? Any help would be much appreciated!

Re: starts but doesnt stay when cold..
Seems to be very common, I'd check the following:
- Idle Air Control Valve
- Throttle Position Sensor
- Cold Start Injector (in front of intake manifold, undernearth throttle body)
- Coolant Temp Sensor (to the right of cold start injector)
- Clean out throttle body and IAC Port
- Vacuum Leaks?
I've also heard people say that the manifold air temp sensor (underneath plenum) causes this. Good luck, you've got a few things to investigate.

Re: starts but doesnt stay when cold..
so would it narrow down the search if it doesn't fully recieve full power if i step on the gas. It will bog down and then eventually the power is returned but it doesn't happen if i slowly press on the pedal.. or is that a whole nother set of problems?
