I'm debating whether a 3000 lock-up converter is too much for the street. Car will see some daily duties, driven hard as it was built Here's my Miniram engine combination:

383 Stroker with Steel Crank, 6" H-Beam Rods,10.9:1 C.R. Keith Black Pistons

AFR 195cc Street heads fully ported with 2.055/1.6 valves

Isky Hydraulic Roller cam
specs @.50 225/234dur, .505/.530"lift 112LSA*
Cam installed straight up grounded 3* advance from Isky 109*intake centerline,115*exhaust centerline

24lb inj.,58mm TPIS Throttle body,Fuel and Spark controlled by Accel DFI

Hooker 1.75"Long Tube headers/3.5" Mufflex Cat-back

Pro-Built 700R4 Tranny spinning a 9"F*rd rear with 3.50gears

I am using a Yank ST3500 3500 rpm stall converter with a 3.73 rear gear and it is great for daily driving. Here is my setup:

377 Stroker, 10.8:1 cr

Brodix -10 heads fully ported w/ 2.08/1.60 valves

Comp Extreme energy solid roller
@.050 242/248 .570/.576" on a 112ls

Miniram ported to Fel-Pro 1207, 58mm AS&M TB, SVO #30 inj

Borla 3" catback with SLP 1 5/8" headers (will have hooker long tubes in the spring)

I went from my almost stock 305 to this monster with a 3500 stall, and only took a minute to adjust to the stall. It really isn't that bad. If I did more drag racing I would go to a 4400 stall and that would probably be the limit for streetability. My mother has driven my car and said except for the pedal being so touchy, it drives great.

I'd say get a 3000 or 3500 stall for the street.

This past year I had the miniram, 406ci, 9.2:1 compression, AFR190 box stock heads, 230/236 .510/.521 hydraulic roller, and vortech s-trim, precision industries 3600 lock up converter and it was VERY nice. It was actually too tight of a converter and I always roasted the tires coming off the line. It would only get good traction by launching it off idle.

1.57 was my best 60'.

But street manners were fine. You would be fine with what I had I think.

Just switched to a bigger cam (230/245) and a higher stall (3600 PI Vig) not too long ago (350ci, ported AFR190s). I love the 3600. It is very tight at low throttle which is great for driving around town. In fact, its SOOO docile that I wish I would have went with a 4200 Its amazing what a QUALITY converter feels like. 3.73s out back.

Gunning for NA 11's with bigger cam, bigger stall, and bigger exhaust.

3000 isn't too much for the street. When I'm done switching to the Miniram, I'll be putting in a Yank ST3500 that's been sitting in my house for months.
