Distributor internal oil leak - watch out

I bought an ebay distributor last winter. I installed it recently and discovered the damn thing isn't properly sealed from oil pushing up the shaft and then leaking though the vent screen.

Skip White. billet distributor. Looks great. $57. POS

I had to put the cruddy 130K mile distributor to get running without an oil leak.

So if you have an oil leak that's driving you nuts from the backside of the engine, before you yank that manifold off(like I did) pull off the distributor cap and if it's coated with oil inside, there's your leak.

never would have thought to look there for an oil leak.

some oil in there might have saved my pickup coil from rusting itself int 3 pieces

Yeah that would be good if that's all it did. But when that seal isn't working right, it's enough to leave a puddle under your car everytime. Looks just like a manifold RTV leak.
