Help: Compareing 305 and 350 visually

Well.. My friend is about to pruchase a 1989 GTA bird that claimed to have 5.7L engine in it. We want to make sure that it is a 5.7L not 5.0L. Is there is a easy way be visually tell the different?? Injector colors, Block Codes and Eprom numbers etc.. anything well help. I need this info before 4PM PST.

Thanks in Advance.

Don't know if its in time, but look on the back driver's side of the block. It will say either 5.0 or 5.7, or look at the emissions sticker on the hood, if its the original engine. Or you can check the vin #. Look at the 8th digit i think. (or is it the 10th?) I think its the 8th. A tpi 305 is going to be an F, and a tpi 350 shoulf be an 8.
Looking at the block is the only way to be absolutely sure, if the engine isn't stock.
good luck.

White '88 RS (originally 2.8)
Previous engine-350, .040 over, vette alum. L98s, stock tpi, stock 305 injectors & chip. TES headers & edelbrock cat back. 3.73 gears, 700r4.
Best with 2.8-17.4@77mph
Best with 305-15.0@93mph
Best with 357-13.7@101mph
on a 2.050 60 ft.
(Damn the 2.8!)
New Setup:
4 bolt 357 (10.2:1), AFR 190s (fully cnc ported), LT4 Hot cam (1.6 RRs), Ported SuperRam (upper&lower), Ed Wright custom chip, 24# Accel injectors, Yank 3200 lock-up TC, 3.27 9 bolt rear, some traction! Hoping to see some 12s.

Thanks.. Engine is not definitely not stock. VIN decoded and said it came with a 5.0L TPI originally. Its going to be PITA to look for the block casting number thought.

Consider it a 5.0 if the owner doesn't have some sort of receipt for a 350 being installed or purchased.
