Is It Suppose To Make This Noise???

When I open my hood I hear a clicking noise! Is it suppose to do that? The noise is coming from behind the alternator section. I'm only 16 I dont have enough money to go out and buy things to fix major problems. It's a 5.0 TPI IROC-Z 28 1987

could be bad injectors, could be valve train. Can you get your hands on a stethescope with a special tip for engine diagnosis? Dirty injectors will make a pretty noticeable noise.

I take it this is when the engine is running? The injectors on an EFI engine will make some clicking noises during operation and could be what you are hearing. How loud is this clicking? You could have some loose valvetrain componants...

could be GOOD injectors, which are supposed to make this noise.

To isolate the noise, you can use a long screw driver as a stethescope, if you cannot locate an engine version. It may be a loose rocker...
