Sometimes it knocks and sometimes it does not?

Engine: 305 TPI
Transmission: M5
Sometimes it knocks and sometimes it does not?
I noticed for a few days now that my car sounds like it has knock problem. Sometimes it knocks and sometimes it does not.
I had the same gas in the tank with both situations.
Why would it knock sometimes and then it would not?
I have not touched anything in the primary /secondary ignition.
Can anybody suggest something?
