Where to get TPI engine?
First let me congradualte on ignoring allthose who tell you to just buy a car with an 8, screw em. Swapping is half the fun. I would say dont use parts you dont trust and dont trust used parts. Make sure you select a motor that has a cam profile suitable for TPI. I would say your best bet is to look up a engine remanufacturing company near you or if you have the cash the GM dealer. I would say try www.paceparts.com or im sure your local parts store problaly deals in remanufactured engines. I know pep boys or auto zone has resonable prices, but i would say search around online for prices first. I know my buddy found some place in Texas that would ship to us in Long Island, and he could have got a L98 aluminum headed 350 for $1850 shipped to his door. Some peopel say get a crate motor but many of them wont produce the vacuum at idle to suport fuel injection so most crate motor placs cant help you. How much cash were you looking to spend. I would say if oyur looking to save some cash, Gm offers agreat deal on a brand new 350 engine for $1250, all new 250 Hp and like over 300 ft pounds, its the LM1 5.7, and it will support TPI. You can order it from any Chevy dealer but Jim pace has good deals so check him out.. Hope this crap i typed helped. Good luck with your swap, if it dont work oout you can just cut off your ***** and flip your baseball cap around sidways and then go buy a honda like EVERYONE ON THIS DAMN EARTH!! Sorry, had to vent. Happy Rice hunting.
I know, it seemed good to use here, besides, you probally found that in car craft anyway lol. now be good or will tell everyone you dropped a v tec in a 1le l98 iroc and then you will be banned from this site!

Neat little saying and all, but I disagree with it. Nothing wrong with used parts, may it be the TPI unit or headers. Might want to dodge used sensors or used injectors or something. But heads can be checked out, as well as blocks and almost any other parts. And many items like headers, and the tpi units are almost always in good enough condition to be reused.
there are exceptions, many used parts are ok if you can check them out but if he were to buy somones used motor, unles he took off the heads and opened then pan and valve covers, he cant make sure the engine is decent, especially if its already out of the car and he can't hear it run. Things like TPI you can just tell if it messed up or if somthing is wrong the coimputer tells you what. Also another suggestion, when you go TPI go with a painless harness, unless oyu are really good with wiring and diagrams, because i did that one and I removed my engine harness put in a stock GTA one that i had to modifiy, then I had to remove my dash harness to find out where everythign goes to and then match them up and the bulk head connector. The I just go a painless harness and a painless VSS and it works great. The only problem is that oyu will have to either buy the extended harness or extend it your self to work on a thirdgen, I found it to be a lil short for neatness. Anyone who tells who "painless isnt Painless" is just a gimp on crack. If somone cant get a painless TPi car to run then they shouldnt have done the TPI swap. You jus provide ground, ignition, VSS, and then everyhin else just hooks up to your TPI sensors and relays.
