I dont want to pay $100 to have the chip burned just to delete the cold start ( I aready have the fan switch turning on at 176) and I cant really afford to buy my own burning stuff right now. What would happen if I deleted it without taking out of the chip?

It'll just take longer to start when, as it says "it's cold." more so now that you've modified it to take longer to warm up. The cold start is activated on every start, but shouldn't be noticeably longer after on/off cycles once it's at operating temp.

I bought it with a 160 thermostat from stant, I installed the hypertech fan switch and everything is working fine interms of the tstat opening well before the fans kick in. She doent get driven in the winter time.

The opposite is true too, I run a prominator and switch between ARAP and 32 and 32B chips without touching the cold start. The prominator has room for 8 different 16K bins. Right now I am data logging ABTD (32B) and ARAP (6E) in a stock 87 vette. The ARAP does not drown in fuel from two sources. I am not sure why but I could see no difference in the data logs or notice any cold (open loop), starting or driving, differences or issues.

Only problem I had in my 86 when I deleted the CSI was at start-up.Needed to put some pressure on the gas pedal to get and keep it running.Once warmed up would idle and run perfectly.

The cold start (the ninth injector), (does the same function as a "choke" on a carburetor), was dropped in 1989 on the TPI Cars (Camaro, Trans Am and Corvette). The "additional fuel" was provided by a software change that used the other eight injectors.Originally Posted by wanab03ss

The cold start injector only works when the temp is less than 40 degrees F, and it only sprays fuel for a second or two, then it shuts off. You can safely disconnect it if you live in a warmer climate, but it doesnt hurt to leave it.
