305 TPI - Starting Issues
Well, got an 88 TA - 305 TPI. It sat all winter, and has been for a while. I jumped it, it ran a bit rough for a while, but warmed up some and seemed ok. I ran it maybe 1/4 a mile and it started losing power severely to where I was pushing the pedal down most of the way, but it just didn't want to go anywhere. It stalled, I got it started and barely home. Fast Forward a couple months - it's been sitting. Now it will start - for a second or two, I got maybe 1 minute smooth idle from it, but now it lopes bad, giving it gas doesn't help much, it just keeps stalling out - it might fire up for 10/15 seconds and die out again. Someone told me it might have a blown head gasket (he seemed to be convinced that water coming out of the radiator when trying to start it cold was a sign of this) but there's not a drop of water in the oil that I can see, nor is there any oil in the water. It will run for a very short time - no real difference if I take off the Mass Air, at all - it's showing a code 34 (low air sense) but then I guess since it really won't run - it might be a result rather than the cause. Any ideas? I really don't think it's ahead gasket, I've never seen one blow without water and oil mixing somewhere, or something obvious like that - but then I know I've not seen it all
It's got new plugs and wires, don't think it's related to that. But - the tank was real low on gas when it was parked, I added maybe half a gallon of 'fresh' gas to it, but... could it just be contaminated gas? My first thought - was a bad injector maybe from the cold over the winter. By the way - I've known it has or likely has a bad IAC - always had to give it a bit of gas to get it started, but it used to run just fine in spite of that.

put 5 gallons of gas in it ,it probably has some water in it from condensation in the tank probably wouldnt be a bad idea to change fuel filter after its been sittng for a while.try this and see what it does, later jimmy

Thanks for a quick reply - kinda got a feeling it might well be that too. It's real choppy, and sometimes it runs just a bit better than others.
Other things aside - it did idle smooth for about a minute, which kinda leads me to believe it's not a bad part - but can't say.
Yep. I'll give that a shot tomorrow. Thanks.
