TPI Codes And Problems

89 IROC-Z with 305 TPI. Codes that I got tonight were: 14, 22, and 44. The two that I'm mainly concerned about are 14 and 22. I replaced the Temperature Sensor (code 14) and it still throws the code so I'm not sure where to check to rid myself of that problem.... any ideas. The other (code 22) for the Throttle Position Sensor is a problem. How do I check to see if the TPS is good or bad and if its bad can I fix it or do I need to buy a new one. Any ideas??

If the TPS is bad, get a new one and calibrate it according to this article:

Re: TPI Codes And Problems

Checking the TPS is easy. You have to have a good voltmeter. The side of the TPS should say A, B, C for the three wire attachments. I think that you should be checking the voltage across A and C. Turn the key to the ON position, do not start the engine. The idle voltage should be 0.54 +- 0.08 or close to that. Then, by hand, slowly opening the throootle blades to WOT. The TPS voltage should slowly climb higher in unison (sp?) with the throotle being opened, and stop somewhere above 4.0V... Check out the Technical Articles on this matter on the home page here.
