iTs smog time in Cali!
Hey all Adam here just got my smog noties today, and wondering what are some things i need to look over on my Camaro(91 305 tpi) had a tun up about feb and everthing seem ok ,, but these days ive got a little peoblem at start up,, first it pick its days when it wants to start right up, i think i have a choke problem, ok, ill start it and will not idle at all with out me feathering the gaS, other times it starts right up, (hot or cold) dont matter. as well as some times it stays on way too long after start up. I replaced my IAC valve, but still i was told that it could be just some build up around the valve hole...
and whats the best way to test my Catalitc converter?

When you replaced the IAC valve, did you clean out the throttle body with carb cleaner spray? It's amazing how much black gunk comes out of a seemingly clean throttle body.
I don't know of any way to test a catalytic converter without actually doing an emissions test.
I'd say get a new PCV valve. They're cheap. Make sure the valve on the passenger side valve cover is closed. I've found mine popped open twice in the past. (It's hidden beneath the AIR tube). Go for a nice long highway cruise to "burn the gunk" out of it as Bill Cosby used to say.
A new AC Delco oxygen sensor helps with emissions. Other than the general tune up you did, you should be fine.
