305 TPI

I have a 305 TPI. It starts when I hit the gas it dies. Then I smell lots of gas. I think it is missing on a cylinder. Also after it dies I hear underneath the hood it sounds like something something is grounding out a sparking noise behind the plentum. Could it be the regulator discharging the fuel pressure? Can anyone help me out thanks.

Re: 305 TPI

1. Check your fuelpressure

2. Measure your injectors

3. Check for leakdown on fuelpressure, make sure the fuelpressure is holding steady when the car is shutdown, the pressure shall hold atleast for 30min + (shall be lower over time, not fast..)

Could be a bad an leaky injector that overflows, so test those 3 things first and get back here

Re: 305 TPI

Could be the fuel pressure regulator has been damaged (maybe the diaphragm failed). If so it might be sending fuel back to the tank through the fuel return line, squirting fuel through a vacuum hose or onto an exterior surface.
