Best Heads to use?
I just bought a 1998 880 vortec block. I have a standard TPI base so I can't use vortec heads. And I have heard that I will have an issue with water flow direction. So I need some suggestions on the best heads to work with. An advice would be greatly appreciated. I was thinking corvette fast burns but I just do not know enough about them......

vortec block is the same as any small block. only LTx motors are reversed cooled so you should not have any problems with water flow direction that i'm aware of.
What are you goals for this build? what TPI base are you using? is it stock, stock ported, or aftermarket?
vortec heads are great if you could swing the cash for a vortec base but if not, you can try to get a set of corvette L98 aluminums. They are pretty nice heads for most mild builds and do have some decent flow when ported out.
Corvetteforum.com, they will sell you sets for 300-350 a pair for a higher mileage unit. Just swap new seals and springs and they should work fine.

If you're going to keep the stock base, then you'll want some lower priced heads. The Edelbrock Performers are great for that.
If you're getting an aftermarket TPI intake, then you can take advantage of better heads such as the Trick Flows or the AFR's.
You can also
for other recommendations.
