Fuel pressure regulator question

Ok wheres the deal, First of all I am new to this whole iroc, tpi stuff so please bear with me. I inherited a 87 Iroc with a 350 that replaced the 305 with tpi. the car has been sitting for 10 yrs and I never started it yet. I installed a adjustable fuel pressure reg, now when I turn the key on to prime the system fuel blows out of the line that comes off the fuel pressure reg, I am guessing this is not right, so my question is what did I do wrong? Fuel is not supposed to come out the vacuum line right? So why is it?..?? Please understand I am new and learning this stuff one step at a time, I am lucky enough to figure out how to turn a computer on so I am learning..LOL..Thanks guys for the help!!!

A picture, link, or part number for this regualtor would help, but in general you should have no fuel coming out any port that is smaller than 3/8" on a pressure regulator. I'm guessing there is a diaphram that moves to regulate pressure, and that diaphram is either not sealing or is torn.

That means that fuel is leaking past or through the vacuum diaphragm. Maybe the diaphragm is torn...
