1989 TPI dies when you stab and release the throttle under load

Ok, car idles well, revs up fine, roasts the tires at will when you floor it, but its started to have this strange issue. Under load, and much more noticable in reverse than forward, if you stab into the throttle VERY abruptly and release, car responds, then dies. I just set the timing (thanks for the help guys), but I have not set the idle. TPS is set correctly (0.54V). Brand new plugs, wires, ignition module, cap, rotor. MAS is not new, TB is from the wreckers. Any ideas????

clean out the IAC that controls idle and controls rpm under 1500

That sounds very similar to what i had a few months ago and i changed the mas with a buddy of mine who has an 87 bird and it was fine so i just had to change the mass and it was fine but you definitely have an Air fuel ratio issue imo with out looking at it... Any check engine lights?

I had the same issues long time ago, Turned out to be 2 bad injector.
So Check your injectors. Also, check your fuelpressure.

If your injectors are bad, Then I recommend Bosch III from FIC.
Jon sells 8 Bosch III for 169,95 with 3 years warranty.
They are flowmatched and they have a great spray pattern. I use them myself and I never had better injectors and smoother idle and throttleresponse.. So I really recommend Jon at FIC

Ok, thanks for all the help. Changed out the TB for a cleaner one, cleaned the IAC and the TB, reset the TPS and the idle screw. Works much better, still a stumble as you accelerate from a dead stop. I'll see what I can do about getting the fuel pressure checked and I'll switch to another MAS and see what happens. Thanks!
