Cold starting
Cold starting
Ok I guess i got a quick question. I have a '88 LB9 in my IROC. If it sits for awhile or is cold it doesn't want to start. I'm thinking it might be the cold start injector. I guess my question is does this year EFI only use the cold start injector to get the car on then turns on the other 8 injectors or does it use all 9 during startup. Anyone know? If it runs on all 9 i'm screwed cuz i know i'm not getting fuel but the question is why. Hmm.....maybe it wasn't a quick question.

Re: Cold starting
The Cold Start injector is controlled by a temp switch in the front of the intake...if the switch reads cold enough, then the CSI will open and squirt fuel unitl it gets warm enough to shut off...totally mechanical deal, no computer control;/etc.
The "real" 8 injectors still work at start up. There's no "switch-over".
This was (CSI) elimiated in '89 for the MAF cars, and also not used (the CSI) on the 90-92 SD cars.
