Re: tpi engine mods

Will you be doing the work yourself? If so, do you have a well-equipped garage? How about experience? With winter almost here, these things might affect where you decide to start.
Assuming the basic tune-up is spot-on, I'd go for 1.6:1 rocker arms and new valvesprings first. Doing it yourself, this should run you $300 to have it running again, and shouldn't cause any hassles. I'd also get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and a high-pressure fuel pressure gauge. That can be done right for $200.

Re: tpi engine mods

let me tell you what the other guy had done to it so we can be more clear. accel plugs and wires, cap and rotor, ignition box, so no mass air flow sensor, throttle body air foil, k&n filter charger, edelbrock tubular headers, flowmaster 3inch exhaust-catback,late model posi rear w/3.73 gears. thats all thats done so far to what i know. i picked this car up as a steal, guy thought main bearings were bad. turned out to be the flexplate. only paid a grand. avatar should be on my name soon

As far as I know you can't with a maf system, that really one of the most important sensors the computer needs to use in order to calculate the air fuel ratio. Unless you mean it was converted to the map system.

Re: tpi engine mods

well you cant bypass it but as far as i know you can put a different computer system in it and no longer have to use the mass air sensor.that is what was done to my car.
