I got a few of problems

I just picked up an 85 Z28 with TPI. It starts and runs great but when I give it gas slowly the engines revs good, but if i tromp on it the car dies.

the car sat for a couple of years.

I also replaced the ignition cylinder lock and now I can't seem to compress the spring that sits behind the steering wheel enough to get the retaining ring in place, any ideas

one more, the e brake is frozen, the lever moves but the break light on the console is on... always. any ideas on how to fix this... it has disc brakes in the rear if it makes a difference.

Does the ECM set any codes? Try jumpering pins A&B on the ECM (start car, then jumper pins) and see if it runs any different under your operating conditions.

Re: I got a few of problems

If the car sat with a battery in it, chances are the TPS went bad. Unhook the 3 wire harness from it and and us a Ohm tester on the top 2 wires. you should have some resistance. have someone step on the gas VERY SLOW and watch your Hom tester. You should have some resistance from 0 to 100 % throttle. Your tester should never drop to OPEN or ".1" if it do. Replace it.
For you're Parking Brake. Call the dealer and tell them you heard there was a recall or TSB on you're cars parking brake freezing and this is a safety concern for you. They should ask you for you're VIN number. If you're car qualifies then they will do the repair at no cost to you.

Re: I got a few of problems

thanks for the input, Now, I just replaced the air filters and now I can't get any rpms above idle speed, I'm guessing this could be a fuel filter. TPI is new to me and all I have worked in was my 87 z28 which was a carb, kind of basic. This is a hole new world for me.

So if there are any known problems with the TPI let me know so I can look into them.

It requires minor tune. You will put the part in (leave bolts a little loose) and plug in the 3 wire harness.
With key in the RUN position and engine OFF, Check voltage (i think on your car the top 2 wires) and adjust to read 0.50 to 0.55 Volts at closed throttle. Torque bolts down. (not to tight or you will crack the new TPS)
Now with your hand move the throttle to wide open throttle, should read 5.0 volts + or - 0.05
Check your book or ALL DATA for exact spec on your car but I think thats correct
