im look for a set of aftermarket aluminum heads for my fully aftermarket ported tpi.... ive decided to build a new engine from scratch and i wanted some good heads... i dont want afr heads anymore because they are expensive... are there some good assembled aluminum heads for 800-900 dollars... i will be using the GM hot cam to go along with this setup..... the heads need to support 550 lift...

I have the Edelbrock heads and like them - had them pocket ported. The appear to work well - never dyno the car but it turned 12.9 in the 1/4.

I don't think that you'll find assembled aluminum heads for $450 each..... Wait a minute Summit has their Aluminum 2.02/1.60 brand with a max lift of .480" $949 a pair... 62cc chamber, 170cc intake port, ARP screw in studs....

For what it's worth, if you'd pay $1200 for Edelbrock or TrickFlow etc why not spend the extra $250 and get the best?

I know from experience that it's cheaper to do it right in the first time, than to spend twice to do it right the second time....

 

yeah i guess you have a point there..... my dad and i are building a 4 bolt main 350 on a engine stand and swapping my old motor out.... i was on the dyno and it spung a bearing and its knocking... so he decided to help me out.... i have more than enough money to buy the afr heads.... should i get a forged bottom end kit or is that too much...

I believe Patriot heads are in your price range. I definitely prefer AFR over the rest though.

You'd only need a forged bottom end if you plan on running juice or forced induction.
