Vette Heads and Intake Manifolds

Installation of Corvette aluminium heads part number 12556463 cast number 10088113 require the use of corvette intake manifold. So I assume they will not bolt up to the stock intake manifolds that came with F-bodies. Does anyone know if the Corvette heads bolt up the aftermarket intake manifolds by companies such as Edelbrock, TIPS and others?

The stock f-body lower int. manifolds will work just fine but,you have to modify the four center bolt holes in the center. And yes,as far as i know, all the aftermarket ones come with provisions for both style heads.
All tpi corvettes came with the early style int. bolt pattern whether they had center bolt valve covers or perimeter bolt.

Re: Vette Heads and Intake Manifolds

The vette heads do not have built-in egr passages like the iron L98 heads. The vette intake manifold has a port for connecting an external egr.

Very true,I didn't think about the egr stuff when I posted.
My car has none of that. But if the o/p needs egr then no,a stock f-body intake won't work and neither will the other aftermarket ones.
BCGTA,you have to have a vette intake if you have to maintain egr.
If not, what I posted will work.

Re: Vette Heads and Intake Manifolds

They will bolt up to aftermarket base manifolds no problem. As far as EGR goes, most aftermarket intakes have provisions for both the F-Body & Y-Body EGR ports.

Re: Vette Heads and Intake Manifolds

Thank you this. I am researching all the issues associted with the different heads that can be used with a 5.0 liter engine. I have just contacted Trick Flow and gotten some good information on their heads. I understand the vette heads are considered the best for these cars with a TPI set up. World Products are another supplier of cast iron heads for these cars. Maybe once I assemble all the information I will publish my results here.

Is there any way or has anyone ever modified a stock or aftermarket intake manifold to work with the vette heads from a EGR perspective?
