Hotter spark plugs?

My 85 IROC 5.0 TPI is out of commission for the next few weeks while I do some interior and engine work.

I am upgrading the ignition system with Accel parts (cap, rotor, coil, wires). Should I bump up the heat range on the plugs? If so, does anyone have suggestions? I did a search, but the discussions were more platinum related. My car sees a lot of city/stop and go traffic, just looking for some ideas.

I'm also adding an air foil and K&N filters. I already have a nice Flomaster exhaust with a Magnaflo cat.

Your engine is mostly stock, run the recommended range...

Re: Hotter spark plugs?

I too have an 85, & when I bought my car a couple of months I replaced every ignition part except the distributor. When it came time to buy the plugs i asked around, you know local shops & friends with f-bodies, & everyone recomended the stock range. My car is a daily driver with stop & go driving as well.

Re: Hotter spark plugs?

Thanks, thats what I wanted to know.

When buying the coil, does the color of the wiring on the coil matter, like red/white or red/yellow?
