i have fooled with fox body mustangs forever but this is my first tpi car. i want to put 24lb fms injectors in a 89 tpi formula firebird, do i have to change mass air meter to match injectors.

this is not a ford. there is no maf calibration. There is however a prom that has an injector constant built into the memory. you have to reburn the chip. if this is a 305 your car came programmed with 19lb injectors. you have to reprogram for 24's because the ecu thinks there are still 19's. the FMS 24 flows 25.5 in our cars because we use a higher rail pressure than ford. I suggest calling a place like PCM for less, ask for alvin.. he does a mail order tune for you and its a simple job. I would not run these injectors without a tune. Tell alvin Frank Burd said to call.

You could also score a Hyperchip from parts forum and have that tuned to what you have. Right now I have LT1 (24lbs) injectors in my tpi and still have the 305 chip. Building a new engine and have a chip to be tuned when I'm ready to change engines. BTW, engine is running fine without the tuning, but will run better with performance when I do the change.
