TPI 383 Stroker

Which TPI unit do I need for a 383 stroker motor? Do I need one from an L98 5.7? Will the LB9 system work?

Re: TPI 383 Stroker

You might want to find a book on TPI. The factory intakes are the same b/w the 305 and 350 engines, but you don't want a factory intake on top of a 383. You will need a complete aftermarket system. If your converting from TBI, just purchase a whole Holley StealthRam kit which includes the complete intake, TB, sensors, fuel pump, puter., etc.... Good luck!

It depends on the smog laws in Wisconsin. If you don't have any smog testing or just a tail pipe reading, just get one that will breathe well. If you need to be concerned with any more restrictive smog laws, you will need to take that into consideration. What kind of engine are you building? How stock appearing do you want the car to look? You might need to put an after market hood on the car to gain clearance for a stealth ram. I think the HSR will tend to make hp at higher rpms, but you might lose too much torque down low. The HSR is illegal for the street in So Cal so I have never seen one in action. For better low end, the First injection system might be a good choice. If you are looking to build a good system on a restricted budget; and you don't have any tpi parts yet, you could use a First base and runners with a ported stock plenum and stock fuel rails. The size injectors you need will depend on how many rpms/how much hp you are going to make.

Re: TPI 383 Stroker

These guys are right: Apart from the injector ratings and tune, the 305 and 350 TPI systems are interchangable, and both will choke your 383 down severely.

I've heard rumors that the Holley Stealth Ram now can be had with provisions for an EGR, but I have not seen one. That would be the best bet, but you'll need custom tuning n matter what you do.
