Code 32
i have a 91 gta trans am. its drives just fine but when i hold the same speed for about 5 to 10 minutes on the highway it will throw a check engine light. if you turn off the engine and start it again the light will be off. i hooked up a scanner to it and it said that it was a code 32. which is eighter a bad map sensor (which was just replaced before i bought the car) or a egr problem. do you guys think i should just replace the egr valve and would that make the light stop coming on?

Re: Code 32
That is a EGR problem code.. could be caused by many reasons... I took my egr system out completely, got a block off plate, and got a custom prom burnt from TPI PARTS.net. I got a few other things changed as well while they were doing the chip for me... Such as fan temp., smog delete, egr delete, rev limiter, top speed limiter delete, and a few other things that I can't remember. I don't know where you live but in some places where they do smog inspection you will probably fail if you remove the EGR. You'll have to check your local laws.

I had the same problem with the car in my signature. It was a lazy 0-2 Sensor that was the primary cause as well as the EGR solenoid by the distributor. The electrical plug was broken and was not making good contact. The code 32 is a bear to troubleshoot....have patience.

Not hard to replace. Mine had two small vacuum hoses and an elecrical plug that had to be removed/replaced. I went to a pick and pull salvage yard and got a good one for $10.00. The single 02 Sensor on the drivers side of the engine was a one wire application. With an 02 Socket and another socket to couple the replacement was easy. Took about 30 minutes for both. Good luck.
