weird engine problems

I am the proud owner of a 1987 Pontiac Trans Am with a completely stock (finished restoring it from a 12 year slumber) 305 TPI motor with a 700R4 tranny.
the problem that I am having is this; after I have been driving the car around for a while, enough for the engine to reach optimum operating temperature (in town), I will step on the gas but the car wont take off the way it is supposed to, it will rev and then (sometimes) downshift; when it does downshift it will rev high for longer than it should, it seems like it is almost stuck, then it downshifts, but still doesn't take off the way it should.

the other problem is that (this happened to me a few times as well) I am driving the car normally, or when im stopped (in town) the car starts to chug, it almost seems as if its running rich, and then it quits, after a while it will start up and run fine.

I know for a fact that the car is running cool, the injectors are fine, and that everything is wired correctly. If i'm not clear on any of the questions, or if you have any questions, please let me know. If someone could either direct me to a thread that I missed, or answer my question from previous experience it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: weird engine problems

Check the fluid level in your tranny. Sounds like it's either low or taking a dump.

Also ohm out your injectors. Injectors that are going bad run worse at operating temps.
