heads?
I am going to have my TPI plenum/SLP runners ported. I'm going to throw in a Lingerfilter 219/219 cam.
I want to upgrade the base plate while I'm at it. Should I go with a Vortec heads baseplate or a baseplate that accepts standard heads?
If I go with a Vortec baseplate, I'll need to buy new heads. What heads do you recommend? Summit is having a sale on their brand heads.

But, I have no idea if these are any good.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Bill

Bill:
Run as far and as fast as you can from the Vortec base plate.
That is the biggest piece of crap Edelcrock ever made.
Just get regular bolt pattern heads. But stay away from cheap ones.
Here read this to see what you have to do to make it measure up to their regular base plate.

Re: heads?
Don,
I will be sending you a M.O. for your headers sometime this week.
Do you reccomend edelbrock baseplate 3860 or 3861? Or should I go with another company altogether?
What do you think of this cam:

Thanks!

Re: heads?
The 3860 is configured for both 86 and older (and Corvette heads), as well as 87 and newer intake bolt patterns.
The 3861 is for 86 and older, and Corvette style heads only. I'd get the 3860 so its compatible with everything.
The Lingenfelter cam was great back in the 90's, but there are lots better and more modern camshafts out there now. For one is the Comp XFI268HR-113. But it requires aftermarket heads; it will not work with the stock heads. For that matter, neither will Lingenfelter cam.
For heads, either the Trick Flow 23* or the AFR Eliminators seem to be the hot setup right now.

Re: heads?
Would AFR 195 Eliminator #1040 65cc chamber L98 heads work?
If the rest of the motor was stock, how much HP gain would I see? Will this give me any problems (loss of compression since the build will be mild, etc)?
