Racing Fuel
i have a 1991 trans am gta 350 tpi. i am going to the drag strip today and was wondering if i should run racing fuel in it or just run 93 octane with octane booster? also for just regular driving should i be using 87,89, or 93?

Re: Racing Fuel
You do not need the extra octane of racing fuel or octane boosters since you don't have super high compression or power adders. With your engine, to stay away from knock & pinging, I would fill up with 93 for the track and daily driving.

Re: Racing Fuel
Higher octane fuel than the engine needs to stay out of knock will actually hurt power and milage. Higher octane fuel is harder to ignite and burns slower, that's how it resists autoignition. You shouldn't need more than 93 octane, and even 91 is probably fine. New high performance cars are running over 11:1 compression and making 500HP on 91 octane pump gas.
