Of course you can put headers on without pulling the engine.

upgrading the exhaust is the best bang for the buck, by far and fairly simple to do in a good weekend with hand tools. Vigilante has proven significantly faster E.T's and 0-60 times but aren't the cheapest part, especially if you don't need a new converter. As far as cheap, near free, DIY setups does anyone have some proven tricks to help this poster, me and anyone else......such as adding resistors to sensors , removing/rerouting things, inexpensive swap-this -part-for -a -newer model type tricks, or the such???

Ya you will gain at least 20hp by using higher octane gas, but only if you have vtech. k enough sarcasm.
actually using higher octane gas will make it harder to burn all the gas, using the lowest octane gas without getting detonation will give you the most power/efficiency. the reason for having higher octane gas it to prevent detonation with high compression engines, a lot of people have the misconception that higher octane gas gives you power because race cars use it.

1. Make sure car is in tune and running the way it should.
2. Gut air boxes (A cold air kit is a HUGE waste of money on a 3rd gen camaro)
3. Read the stickies at the stickies at the top of this page (WAY too many replies in here referring to getting a bigger throttle body)
4. Enjoy driving your car and SAVE your money. There is no point dumping money into bolt on mods when the problem is your 700R4 peanut cam combo.
I wasted a bunch of money on a bunch of mods for my 305 (Mine is an 85', so I do not have the peanut cam) over the years, by far the best mod I did was swaping to a T5. A manual can make even a slug like my 2.2L s10 fun to drive. If you can do it yourself, a T5 swap can cost less than a ridiculous throttle body (after you sell your working 700r4 to somebody that blew theirs up)

The T5 trans is better than the 700R4 then i seen plenty of those for around $200
