Injector questions
I have a 1985 IROC-Z with the 305 Tuned Port Injection. It has just over 160,00 miles. I had the injectors replaced when the car was just 2 months old. According to the dealer, there was a problem with the fuel produced at that time, causing the injectors to foul. That was almost 24 years ago now. I've been having an ongoing problem with driveability issues. Hard starting, missing, rich fuel smell to mention a few. When I took it to my mechanic, I told him it was acting very similar to the way it was when I had fouled injectors. He did some troubleshooting and found the #6 plug to be oil fouled and replaced it. He also pressure tested the fuel system and found that pressure was bleeding off, probably due to the injectors. They power flushed the injectors and it ran better for a few days. Now it's starting to run badly again. My questions are:
1. What does your oil look like when mixed with gas?
2. Are the retaining clips that lock the injectors in place necessary? The reason I ask this is because I found some remanufactured injectors online, but was told that my retaining clips would not work on them, and that they really aren't necessary???????
3. Does anyone have a reliable source for OEM replacement injectors?
I appreciate any help.

Re: Injector questions
You were probably looking at the Bosch Design lll fuel injectors. They are an upgrade from the metal body injectors. It is correct, these injectors do not require a clip because the pressure from the fuel rail holds them in place.
