help with engine wierd idle
hello all, Im new to the forum and thought I would ask for help here. I have and engine from and 85 camaro. a 305 TPI V8
I changed spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, cleaned out my IAC, cleaned all the gunk behind my throttle body, and set timing to 6 degrees BDC. but when I start it, it will run fine, then after about 5 minutes, it sounds like it starts to miss untill it finally just dies or its idling fine and the idle speed goes up and down until it dies. and Ive also noticed that when it starts to sound like its missing, ill give it a LITTLE bit of throttle and it just gets worse untill i give it a lot of throttle and it goes away but once it comes down to idle, it will die. anyone have an idea why this happens?

Re: help with engine wierd idle
it starts immediately after it dies. I also notice when its warmed up and idling fine, I will give it a LITTLE throttle and it starts to hesitate and sound like its missing really bad. Another problem is when im driving and i come to a stop, as im stepping on the brake, it will die comming to the stop. How could I check for a leaking regulator and injector?
I also checked fuel pressure and with key on engine off, its at 45 psi, and with engine running, its at 37 PSI if that helps.

Re: help with engine wierd idle
You can remove the vacuum line from the FPR while the pump is running to check for the presence of fuel. Any liquid fuel dribbling out vacuum port would indicate a ruptured diaphragm.
If the fuel pressure remains for a few minutes after shutting off the pump, the injectors are probably not leaking. The only way to check for streaming is to remove and test the injectors. However, performing a power balance test can identify an injector problem.

Well I checked the FPR by checking for liquid, but there was none, and I also connected a vaccum hand pump and it held vacuum. I checked the injectors and they held pressure. I have also noticed that when the engine is cool, I can rev it and it will come to idle fine but once its warmed up and I rev it, it will die. This happens whether the MAF sensor is connected or disconnected, So would this rule out the MAF as being a problem?
