Anyone know where I can find a screw down type large cap HEI dist cap? I can only seem to find the tab kind on the main suppliers web pages. I am not getting spark on 3 and 5 so I replaced the wires but still no go so it is now on to a new cap I guess. They are tough to find so I am thinking I ought to just switch over to a small cap and be done with it. I have the stem for a small cap so I just need the cap and remote coil plus wiring.

 

Let me guess, its an 86 Iroc or TransAm. Had the same problem with mine. I bought mine at Discount Auto which is now Advanced Auto about 5 yrs ago. It was an Accel cap and rotor and I think I only paid like 25 bucks for it. I remember it being hard to find as well.

 

Last time I bought one for my '86, NAPA had them in stock and it was the right one.

 

you can get one at a good parts store easy. Just bring in the old one to match up.

 

And don't let them sell a taller cap. There is a difference in height and diameter.
