Different MAF question

So i went to the junkyard the other day (the one i go to a lot) and there's a relatively fresh firebird that someone forgot to take the MAF off of, my question is will it work for my car and is it aftermarket by chance? it has a screen on one side and has a board behind the wire and stuff with a flaking off green protectant.(also theres two rusty tips on the downstream board part that are rusty, is there anything thats supposed to be connecting those or is rust ok....i would post a pic but my phone wont let me.) it all looks to be in good condition. (and thats what people told me but i want your guys' opinion) also i was wondering, since im throwing a code 36 (burnoff) and my relay wont kick on even after we swapped a new relay in, could replacing the MAF sensor if this one is good potentially stop this problem and stop my car from dumping a gallon a second of gas in the engine?

sorry about the long post but i want to make sure i dont leave anything out, all the help is great

Re: Different MAF question

Sounds like a MicroTech MAF, film type, might try using some MAF cleaner before putting it on

Re: Different MAF question

sweet! but unfortunately after i got it torn apart i went to go hook it up and the one i bought/salvaged is a 3 prong connector, as compared to mine which is a 5 prong....? do you know what this means or whatever? and do you think that i could possibly go out to the yard tomorrow and cut off and splice in the 3 prong from the scrapped car? thanks again and i did clean it out

Re: Different MAF question

go back, find the car, and take every wire it has that connected it to the tpi from the ones in the engine compartment, through the firewall, you might have to go through the fender and dont forget the computer. dont cut anything - follow it all through to the ecm.
TAKE IT ALL - that is as important as the other hardware.
you did not have a picture but there should be a plate on it that says tpi in the front.

Re: Different MAF question

well i went back today to get everything but unfortunately the ecm and everything has already been pulled from the dash and everything cut ...so who knows, but i have a another question... what model year(and maybe engine size) did they put a 02sensor looking thing in the airfilter box and then the three prong MAF? and also do you think that can be wired into mine or no?
