Tach freaking out, misfire?
Need some help on my daily driver. It is a 1990 speed density system. I just swapped out my distributor as my old one was getting crusty. Before the swap, I had a mild hesitation at freeway cruising speeds that would happen every now and again. following the swap the car had a major hesitation (car jerking back and forth whenever I try to accelerate) starting at just over 1000 RPM and my tach would rapidly jump around. Idle is cool, timing is set @ 6* BTDC
I then disconnected the wire to set timing while the car was running and left it disconnected. Now the problem has gone away, albeit with less power. WTF?!?!
Did I get a bum distributor or am I looking at something ECM related since the problem exists only when the ecm is controling the dist? I am at a complete loss...help.

Make sure the two plugs that connect to the coil are tight. When mine were loose the tach would jump all over the place and the engine would misfire.

Done and done. The connections are tight and I am not quite certain why the problem would go away when the ESC was disconnected if the connections were loose. Thank you, though.
Anyone else have any ideas? Someone?
