Bad clattering Knock!!!

My intake manifold was leaking. I replaced the gaskets, put new 23lb injectors, coil, cap, rotor and valve covers on. I started the engine and it has a bad clattering knocking sound that is consistent with acceleration. I thought it was the valve covers? Put the oem back on and still have the knock. Im praying its not a bearing or a valve. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! My car is an 89 Iroc with a 5.7 tpi

Re: Bad clattering Knock!!!

No, the oil is very clean. When I put the oem covers back on I just set them on with a couple bolts to keep oil from going everywhere. I did not put the gaskets on though. Im hoping without the gaskets the covers are sitting low but the sound is still coming mainly from the passenger side. Tomorrow Im going to put the gaskets on to see if that works. I wish I could run it without the cover but the thing was shooting streams of oil out. I didnt think it shot oil out like that? If it needs a new engine I will probably part it out as it needs body work and a paint job.
