Hello all. Just wanted an opinion or two.

Someone in my town is selling a complete L98 with TPI minus the ECM for 650 dollars. I figure if I offer him 500 he'd accept. He claims it has 65,000 miles on it and was pulled from a wrecked GTA that was his friend's garage car. In the pictures there is barely any rust on the exhaust manifolds which may indicate its being garaged. My exhaust manifolds are completely covered in rust.

Is this a good buy?

Also, I'd like to eventually be able to build the motor over time to put out 425ish FWHP with TPI. And when I say TPI I mean with aftermarket runneres, TB, injectors, intake manifold base and all. Is this possible? Is this a good choice for my goals?

If it is, I figure this would be a good oppurtunity.

Sounds like a good deal to me if that is true. A TPI system usually sells for $400 or so, without the engine. A running L98 long block with less than 70k is usually worth more than $500 by itself.
